Ultimate List! 60+ of the Best Free Wedding Resources and Ideas!

For the bride on a budget, free wedding resources are a lifesaver! These resources are plentiful, but they are scattered all over the internet.

Our family recently had some great news: My brother in law and his now-fiancee are getting married! Yay!

We are all so excited for them! Things are definitely going to be unusual for them with COVID – 19, though. By default, it will have to be a small wedding, and all the nieces and nephews might not even be able to come!

This got me thinking about how such a small wedding would save them a lot of money that they might otherwise have been pressured to spend. It’s a very small silver lining, but at least it’s there. Right?

There are a lot of us though, where the budget is a real consideration. We often have to make sacrifices in order to bring all of our friends and family.

Hopefully, this list of free resources will help you get things started!

There are several different categories of free things, so here’s a handy table of contents to help you out!

While all of the links in this post are to absolutely free resources, some of them are affiliate links. If you happen to make a purchase after clicking through a link, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for supporting my blog!

Free Wedding Invitation Templates and Save the Dates

Freepik.com

Do note that the free items from Freepik are for personal and commercial use, but, unless you purchase a subscription, they ask that you credit Freepik on the product, whether personal or commercial.

The options are just gorgeous! Here’s a few of my favorites.

CardsandPockets.com

This is a cute little website dedicated to all things wedding! It has products from laser cut monograms, to cute chalkboard signs to useful DIY tools and more.

Bonus points? They have a free “change the date” template! I’m guessing that’s getting a lot of use these days.

They also have a whole little section dedicated to free wedding invitation templates!

Not only are the templates free, but you get to edit them right on the site. No extra download necessary!

Here are some of my favorites.

Canva.com

It shouldn’t be a real surprise that Canva also has free wedding invitation templates. I mean, they have every other kind of template you can think of!

These templates are editable in-site, then just download when you’re done!

Free Wedding Fonts

Ok, so I got started making a list of all of my favorite free fonts, and the list just got huge. And I mean huge.

I do love myself a good font!

So, instead of making this post ridiculously long, I made a second post just for fonts, which you can find at my Free Wedding Fonts post!

Free Wedding Checklists

WeddingShoppeInc.com is a great place to start for the DIY bride! It has not only checklists, but also methods to bring organization to your wedding planning! Find it here!

The best 12 month wedding planning checklist comes from MagnetStreet.com. It’s pretty to look at and it’s very comprehensive! Find it here!

BouquetAndBells.com has a short checklist of questions that I think will really help keep the overwhelm down at the beginning of your wedding planning. Find it here!

TopWeddingSites.com has a great week-of checklist for the DIY-er! It helps make sure those last little details are all taken care of. Find it here!

This checklist from OffBeatBride.com is geared toward brides with a shorter engagement. Not everyone is engaged for a year or more, after all! Find it here!

What if you’re planning a destination wedding? DestinationWeddingDetails.com has a useful checklist for a great get-away! Find it here!

Free Wedding Decorations

Ok, so nothing is this section is actually free, but I’ll try to help you not make it hurt so much!

The best ever tip for a budget wedding is to ask friends and family to borrow their resources.

Does your future mother in law love canning? Ask to borrow her mason jars for some pretty hanging lights!

You get the idea! If you’re super lucky, one of them might have a sewing machine or even a Cricut you can borrow for the price of a thank you lunch.

I’d be willing to bet that your loved ones would be so happy to help you out for your big day!

Dollar Store Wedding Tips

This article from the Krazy Coupon Lady has some cute tips for a dollar store wedding! Who knew how hard a little can of spray paint could work for you?

My favorite is the shabby-chic DIY cupcake stand!

These tips from Bridal Guide are so cute, and many of them are perfect for an outdoor wedding (another awesome way to save on decorations!)

Hip2Save.com also has some really cute ideas. I love the idea of providing flip flops for guests with uncomfortable shoes! Have a look!

Some of my favorite ideas come from CraftyHacks.com. I love the sparkly candles and the golden glass panel seating chart. Check them out here!

Free Wedding Games

One of my favorite things about T’s and my wedding was our causal reception. In lieu of a formal dinner, we hosted an outdoor barbeque!

One of the best things about this venue was that it was perfect for lawn games

We asked various family to bring certain games we knew they had, like croquet and badminton and yard Yahtzee. It was so much fun!

Even if you don’t have an outdoor reception, there are plenty of free things to help entertain your guests if they aren’t the dancing type.

One idea is to invite certain guests to bring their favorite board game as a wedding gift. Have fun playing it with all your family and friends!

TheWeddingBlogger.com has a great list of free printable activities. My favorite is “How well do you know the bride and groom?”

Having a “kids corner” is also a great idea if you know there will be lots of little ones attending. TheQuietGrove.com has a list of free printables for kids that would be great for just such an area.

Florals

This one is getting a bit lengthy, so I’ll limit myself!

But if you really want to be inundated with free florals, head on over to Freepik.com. Just check out this search for “watercolor floral“!

I won’t include any of those here, but do read on for more awesome resources!

Frames

One of the best resources I’ve found for trendy golden frames is a site called RawPixel.com. A quick search for “gold frame” comes up with a zillion gorgeous options!

Here are just a few of my favorites!
