My kids and I went for a lunchtime picnic to a nearby park the other day, and we all just loved it. We spread out our blanket under a huge tree, and I could barely persuade them to eat half of their sandwiches before they were off and playing. They ran from tree to tree, playing in the dirt and enjoying the warmth.
Could we have had a picnic in our living room? Sure. Would it have been easier? Definitely. Would the kids have had a ton of fun? Of course! But would it have been nearly as special? Definitely not.
It’s amazing how we can take basically anything we do, do it outside, and watch how it instantly becomes magical.

My husband suggested today that we do some decorating to help spruce up our home, and what did he suggest? Plants!
It is my personal opinion that our souls crave nature, and that incorporating it into our lives in many ways can actually help us be happier. True? Maybe. Can it hurt? Nope! It works for me, in any case. I grew some green onions in a little plastic cup for a couple of weeks, and it’s a little pathetic how happy that little bit of green in my kitchen made me.
