There is no food that says “It’s Christmastime!” more than candy canes, which is why I’m so excited to share these candy cane clipart sets with you!
I took my girls to Walmart recently to get some craft supplies and to get T a Christmas present. As you may be aware, Walmart often has someone from the Salvation Army outside ringing a bell asking for donations this time of year. At least once during the season I like to have the girls each take a dollar or whatever change I have to give to the bell-ringer.
Well, this year that person happened to have three candy canes, just enough to give one to each of my kiddos. They were ecstatic! And they weren’t just any candy canes, either. They were flavored candy canes. The absolute joy of these kiddos made them completely forget about what they did to get the candy canes in the first place, but oh well. They had a positive experience doing something good, and I’m ok with that.
What I was not ok with was that my little two year old Sarah opened her candy cane before I had a chance to hide it until we got home. Thus, I was left with a sticky little girl dropping bits of broken candy cane all over Walmart, despite my best efforts.
And this is why I always bring my diaper bag, complete with wipes, into the store every time. You just never know what kind of mess you’ll end up with!
Does anyone actually know why candy canes are peppermint flavored? Is there some kind of symbolism behind that? Whatever the reason, a solid stick of sugar is sure to make my girls happy campers!
