Happy Almost Memorial Day!
I love Memorial Day for so many reasons. Of course burgers and hot dogs are toward the top of the list, but I think these patriotic star SVGs get closer to the real reason I love this holiday so much.
I love my country. It is flawed, heaven knows, but I love it anyway.
My husband is a veteran. He served a tour in Afghanistan, and he was still in the Reserves when we got married. We had some tough times, and some good memories, before his time was up. But being an Army wife for just one short year has changed my perspective about my country, even if only a little bit.
I am so proud of the freedoms that veterans both present and past have fought for. I think it’s too easy to take what we have for granted, and I’m grateful for Memorial Day. It’s a perfect opportunity to reflect on what I have been given because of the sacrifice of others.
So, this Memorial Day, I hope we each can take a moment to remember those who have gone before us. I hope we can remember sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians alike to give us the country we enjoy today.
